I spent 40 years with stick-straight hair, until a health-related diet change in 2016 slowly revealed waves, then curls. By 2018, I couldn’t deny it: I had curly hair and no idea what to do with it!
That's when I discovered my darling Darci. On my first visit, she patiently walked me through everything, how to care for, style, and embrace my curls. She truly listened, took her time, and made me feel completely supported.
What I appreciate most about Darci is the personal attention; seeing Darci always feels like catching up with a friend. Her suite is beautiful and peaceful, and she always has excellent products on hand, but she’s never a “pushy salesman.”

She’s seen me through it all: the beginning “frizzy” stages, the extended neglect during Covid, when my hair reached my waist, and then the big chop that helped me fall in love with my curls all over again. (She also walked with me through rapid hair loss after bariatric surgery, caring for my fragile curls [and my ego] as they grew back.) Now my curly cuts are regular, efficient, and fit easily into my schedule, AND Darci is kind enough to send the reminders so I never miss an appointment.
A good hair professional is hard to find…but a GREAT hair professional is truly a treasure, and I’m so fortunate to have found this treasure so close to home!

My curly hair journey with Darci began in a panic. Before a vacation I had planned, my long-time stylist canceled at the last minute! Scouring the internet, I found Modern Curls and Cuts and Darci.
From the moment I stepped into her beautiful, calming suite, I knew I was in good hands. Everything was clean. She had soft music playing, which made for a very relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. She listened, educated me every step of the way, and gave me the most luxurious cleansing my hair had ever had! Darci gave me a hands-on step-by-step class on how to apply products, diffuse, and then scrunch out the crunch.
The reveal…. Can you say WOW! My curls never looked so amazing, bouncy, shiny, and healthy. I looked at Darci and said, "I am never going to remember how to do this". At that point, she hands me a sheet with step-by-step instructions.
Fast forward to 2025, I still have my curly hair day with Darci! I no longer blow-dry my bangs straight. She didn’t just teach me how to love and care for my curls; she transformed my curls!
Oh, and the icing on the cake, I went from washing my hair every day to washing it twice a week!

I began my journey to find a curly specialist after another stylist cut my bangs WET and way TOO short! After what seemed like forever, and my micro bangs finally grew out, I was determined to find someone who could cut my curly hair and understood things like shrinkage!
At the time, I was starting to grow my curls out again after 20+ years of being super short. My curls were always frizzy, I washed almost daily, and was really unsure if I was even going to keep the length if I could not find someone that really understood curls.
Since I started my journey with Darci, my curls are much more defined, healthy, and I can go many days between washing because I know how to care for them. Now, I have a great shape to my cut, I know the tools to use to control the frizz, even in this Texas humidity! And thankfully, I no longer walk around with micro bangs.
